Who didn’t knows Thomas Edison. He was the great scientist of his time. He did many great inventions like the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and the electric light bulb, and many more. Edison did almost 1093 successful inventions in his lifetime.

Thomas Edison was born on 11th February 1847 in Milan, Ohio. His father’s name was Samuel Ogden Edison and his mother’s name was Nancy Mathews Elliott. Edison was the youngest of seven children of his parents.

When Edison grow up his parents did his admission in a school. After a few days, One day when Thomas Edison got back home from school and gave a paper to his mother. He said to her Mother, my teacher gave this paper to me and asked me just you have to open it. When her mother read that paper her eyes filled with tears. What does it say, Edison asked. She read the letter :

Your son is a genius. This school is too small for him and doesn’t have enough good teachers for training him. Please teach him yourself.

Many years later Edison’s mother passed away, at that time Thomas Edison had become one of the greatest inventors of the Century. One day, he was checking his cupboard and found a letter, and it was the same letter that his childhood teacher wrote to his mother that day. Edison opened the letter and read it:

Your son is addled [mentally ill]. We won’t let him come to school anymore.

Edison cried for hours and then he wrote in his diary:

Thomas Alva Edison was an addled child that, by a hero mother, became the genius of the century.

Edison was a hard worker. At the age of 12, he sold newspapers and fruits on the train.  He even printed his own newspaper, the Grand Trunk Herald, on a moving train.

After that Edison faced many ups and downs in his life but Edison never gives up and always fight with all the problems with courage.

He tackles all the situations very bravely. He taught us an important lesson of never giving up.

At a young age, Edison made many inventions. The Telegraph was one of his most popular inventions. After some time he became so good at using the telegraph that he got a job as a telegrapher to send signals between the United States and Canada.

After that Edison moved to New York and set up a laboratory there.

At the time of the invention of the light bulb, he has failed more than ten thousand times but he still keeps trying, and finally, he got success.

When a news reporter asked him how does it feel by failing 10,000 times and finally got success then he replied :

I didn’t fail 10,000 times, but I Found 10,000 ways that won’t work.

This thought of Thomas Edison has changed the world. It is the most popular thought of Edison.

Before he died in 1931, Edison patented 1,093 of his inventions. The wonders of his mind include the microphone, telephone receiver, universal stock ticker, phonograph, kinetoscope (used to view moving pictures), storage battery, electric pen, and mimeograph.
Edison died on 18th October 1931.

The whole nation of the United States of America Honoured him by switching off the lights throughout the entire country for one minute.
